上周六，米德尔顿荣光校区周末寄宿校外活动再次进行。秋高气爽之时，MCJ同学们与带队老师们在婺江之上参加了皮划艇运动。从赛前训练到下水实践，再进行三个级别的赛艇项目：竞赛分为三个级别，各级别统一出发，比赛距离大约 500 米，起点集合哨响出发，终点在下水码头，先到达获胜。主要考验同学们方向控制与划桨的效率。

Last Saturday the weekend boarding, off-campus activities of Myddelton College Jinhua resumed. With the refreshing autumn weather finally here, the MCJ students, and the teachers who led the team, participated in kayaking on the Wujiang River. From pre-competition training to launching practice, three levels of rowing events were carried out: the three levels of boats started uniformly at each level; the race distance was about 500 meters. It mainly tested students' directional control and paddling efficiency.

皮划艇起源于19世纪60年代的北美洲格陵兰岛上爱斯基摩。1936年，在柏林举行的第11届奥运会上，皮划艇被列为奥运会正式比赛项目。它要求由一位桨手面向小艇的前进方向，使用无固定支点的桨，运用肌肉力量向后划桨。该项运动是一项集竞技、娱乐、观赏、探险于一体的体育项目，也是各国人民进行体育文化交流的重要内容。

Kayaking originated in the 1860s with the Eskimo of Greenland and North America. In 1936, at the 11th Olympic Games held in Berlin, Kayaking was listed as an official Olympic sport. It requires a rower to face the forward direction of the boat, use a unfixed fulcrum oars, and use muscle power to paddle backwards. The sport integrates competition, entertainment, viewing and exploration, and it is also an important part of sports and cultural exchanges between people of many countries.

MCJ不定期展开校外活动，其中就包含丰富的竞技类体育运动，这不仅是MCJ英式寄宿制的一部分，更是米德尔顿全人教育的重要一环。马术、高尔夫、卡丁车、毅行、登山，到诸如皮划艇这样的水上运动，MCJ通过这些校外体育活动来拓宽同学们的边界，在竞技与协作中，不断探索自我的潜能，身体力行感知世界。

MCJ conducts off-campus activities from time to time, including a wealth of competitive sports, which is not only part of MCJ's British boarding system, but also an important part of MCJ Holistic Education. From equestrian sports, golf and karting, to trail walking, mountaineering and water sports such as kayaking, MCJ broadens the boundaries of students through these extra-mural sports activities. In competition and collaboration, students constantly explore their own potential and experience the world for themselves.
